Welcome Back! Last week I had the honor and privilege to capture a very special baby boy! Mr.L and his family came into the studio for his newborn portraits. I took a roll call, and we have Mr L., 5 year old big sister Miss A., and Mom and Dad on the roster!
This beautiful baby came in for his newborn session at one month old. Which, when photographing newborns, can be considered a little bit late. ( I usually like to schedule newborn portraits within the first two weeks of the baby being born.) But Mr. L decided to make his appearance to his beautiful family a little early, and spent some time in the NICU before heading home. We all know that sometimes things happen out of our control, so it was’t a problem at all, and we were still able to get some amazing shots of this cutie pie.
Actually, Mr. L’s story of how he was born, was one of the most incredible stories I’ve heard to date. Working with children, I hear lots and lots of birthing stories, but this one takes the cake. And Mom is a ROCKSTAR!
Baby Boy’s Grand Appearance
When I asked about how little Mr. L was born, Mom and Dad filled me in on the details. On May 4, Mom had her regularly scheduled Dr’s appointment, All looked good, so the Dr. sent them home, and asked them to return next week.
At 3 am Mom woke up with a minor stomach ache, and didn’t really think much of it. Since, this was baby # 2, she already experienced labor pains, and didn’t think this was it. Then, at 5 am she stood up, went to use the bathroom, and her water broke. At this point, she runs to change her clothes, to get ready to go to the hospital, and notices the baby’s head is already there.
Mom ended up delivering Mr. L right there at home. I was told, Grandma was screaming. Dad was in a state of shock. And little Miss A, handled it all like a champ, and simply said “Look my baby brother is here!”
This truly was the most remarkable birthing story I’ve ever heard. And I am so glad Mr. L is doing so great!
Scheduling your Newborn Baby Portraits
So, you see, a lot of people ask me about when to schedule their session. Although, it is ideal to be at the two week mark, it’s not something that I set in stone. You can see from their gallery below, the lovely photographs we were able to get. I especially love the photos of Mr. L and his proud Big Sis!
