Our favorite thoughts as we await our new baby are usually those filled with lots of snuggles and sweet moments with our precious ones! I bet you’re also picturing a perfect nursery too! There are lots and lots of “Pinterest perfect” nurseries to choose from, but to save you some time and stress I did some research! Below is my top nursery trends for 2020!
I love that this year we are seeing something a bit different! Say goodbye to pastels and soft color, and bring on those rich beautiful tones. Darker colors can bring a sense of serenity, for instance deep blue suggests a mood of calm and harmony. Just like the night sky or a beautiful sea. Another big color we’re seeing is forest green, which of course symbolizes nature and the natural world.
I always say there are not many good surprises in life, and I love when my clients tell me they opted out of knowing the sex of their baby until birth. Good news! This year we are all about the gender neutral nursery. So let’s make it a surprise! It’s no secret, gray has been one of my most requested colors for newborn photography last year, and I am sure there will be more for this year. I’ve been seeing lots of natural wood and wicker very popular with this trend, very similar to the Bohemian look! Blankets, woven wall hangings, and rugs create texture and warmth. What I love most about this neutral trend is the versatility for future home decor. They won’t be small forever after all!
I am a sucker for girly girl designs, so this nursery trend is definitely one of my faves!! Soft and feminine. When choosing your wallpaper, look for big florals in muted pastel tones. To avoid overkill, choose only one wall for the wallpaper, and the rest of the room in a neutral color.
Here is another great way to add some pops of color to a gender neutral nursery. We’ve been seeing lemons on everything from clothing to home decor since last spring. We can now add that to our baby’s oasis! Colors of citrus inspire refreshing feelings of happiness, and energy.
The Muted Rainbow
I absolutely love this whimsical theme! I love soft natural colors. This is a super fun way to add a little playfulness to your babies space, without all the saturation. I even found a blog post with so many cute DIY ideas, you can check that out here!
Say goodbye to farmhouse and shabby chic, for now! And bring year-round vacay vibes to your little ones life with bold, leafy greens. I love the incorporation of natural materials like wicker and rattan for furniture and decor, as well as little jungle animals for that sweet little touch!
I hope to have given you some inspiration as you prepare for your baby’s arrival! I just absolutely love home decor, it’s just another reason to get a little creative! There are so many possibilities! We can even design your photo session to match any of these themes, and add a little personal touch to your space!
